What is Relational Psychotherapy?

Emotional well-being depends on having satisfying mutual relations with others.

Relational Psychotherapy is a powerful, effective model for working with individuals who suffer from chronic emotional, psychological and/or relational distress.  It begins with the understanding that we are not born alone.  Rather, we are born into relationships.

Our emotions, behaviours and ideas about ourselves are formed through these relationships and tend to stay with us throughout our adult lives.  Although these are based in our early life experiences, by the time we are adults they seem to define us and appear unchangeable.

Relational Psychotherapy works to build an understanding of these deeper roots of our behaviours and emotions and how these patterns impact our lives.  Through this understanding old patterns can be changed and new ways of being are experienced and solidified.
